The project
Over the years, All Hallows Preparatory School had increased in size and was in need of additional classrooms. The single-storey building, housing five new classrooms, was built on the current playground, with a new playground located elsewhere. The building was designed under the watchful eye of English Heritage, to ensure that it remained in keeping with the school’s grade II listed main house.
The challenges
The new building is situated right in the middle of the school, with no access, except under the school arch and through the main playground, making the project a real logistical challenge to build.
The solution
All transport and materials were brought in during teaching periods through the playgrounds, to ensure the children and staff’s total safety. An attentive site manager had close daily liaison with the school, before timing deliveries and organising one of the site operatives to escort all vehicles through the playground.
The results
The project went smoothly – and Snibor delivered five new superb classrooms in a perfect teaching location in the school.
