The project
Our clients approached us wanting to convert and extend a beautiful Victorian stable block which would provide new accommodation for their daughter.
The challenges
When working on historic listed buildings, the unexpected is always around the corner. Roof timbers or floor joists are never in the condition sought. Matching materials is also always a challenge, whether stone or mortar, but this is what makes a project, in our opinion.
The solution
Having quality trades people and craftsmen was really important; they understood the materials, had the skills and genuinely cared for and were proud of what they produced. The foreman remained permanently on site, for the duration of the project, ensuring that small details were achieved.
The result
The Victorian stable block was completed, providing our clients’ daughter with unique and exceptional accommodation. The workmanship was superior on the finish of the building and will stand the test of time – there for others to enjoy, for years to come.
