The project
The Victorian farmhouse was completely refurbished and altered, in addition to a large two-storey stone extension being built.
The challenges
The clients’ biggest concern was ensuring that the new extension remained in keeping with the current farmhouse – not only externally, but also internally.
The solution
This was achieved through sourcing the majority of materials from reclamation yards and reusing a large proportion of the current stone, from the original demolition works. Details, such as ensuring that the mortar matched, along with other elements, like glazing bars to windows, meant that good management and co-ordination skills were critical for success.
The result
This was a project with which everyone was involved throughout the process. Mr and Mrs Skinner played an important part in the implementation, showing enthusiasm and valuable input all the way; they were consequently extremely proud of their finished home. Hard work from us and the clients ensured an amazing result.
