The project

The owners of the renowned La Fleur de Lys restaurant had acquired new premises; this presented them with the challenge of not only moving their successful business, but also restructuring the layout of the building, to accommodate the new restaurant and bedrooms. The new layout was to provide a 40-seat restaurant and nine rooms, with en suite bathrooms, to meet their clientele’s high expectations.

The challenges

Considerable structural alterations were needed to the current hotel to fully open two existing rooms into one large restaurant. In addition, several bedrooms, en suite bathrooms and toilets were demolished to further enhance the layout. Timing was critical, as the change-over from one restaurant had to be met to ensure that the owners did not incur any downtime and hence loss of revenue.

The solution

Great fun was had during this exciting and challenging project; the tight eight-week programme meant that careful scheduling was needed to allow a quick flow-through of trades people. Flexibility is essential, when dealing with old buildings, and La Fleur de Lys proved no different – with structural alterations being adapted as the building was opened up. These were quickly incorporated into Snibor’s already-tight programme.

The result

The client’s confidence, in achieving completion on time, was reinforced when a full booking was taken for the final night of the project. To the client’s relief and that of its 45 guests, there was no sign of builders or wet paint.
